As the cold of winter begins to set in, and the nights turn longer, there is an unmistakable joy that brings life to Hudson. That’s right, the annual Christmas Pantomime is back once again! This year’s show, Peter Pan, is the story of a mischievous boy who can fly, and his adventures on the island of Neverland with Wendy Darling and her brothers, the fairy Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys, The Mermaids, and the pirate Captain Hook. This year, the whimsical magic of Peter Pan will be brought to life by Director Glen Robinson, Set Designer Lea Durocher, Costume Designer Tina Struthers, and Musical Direction by Andrew McCafferty!
This is the story that started it all. It begins when a little farm girl, Dorothy Gale, her Aunt Em and her dog Toto are blown away in a tornado and land in a fairyland named Oz. Here she meets a very unusual cast of characters – the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion, and together they go on a quest to see the Wizard of Oz, each of them seeking what they want most in life. Making their way along the Yellow Brick Road through a series of hair-raising encounters, they arrive at the City of Oz only to be told by the Wizard that they first must complete certain tasks before he will grant their wishes.
They eventually overcome many dangerous challenges and complete their tasks, only to find that the Wizard is really just a humbug. They realize that the things they were seeking, they had all the time. Filled with music, dance, song and the usual Panto twists, The Wizard of Oz promises to be an unforgettable journey. Somewhere over the rainbow.
